Sydney independent agency, Archibald Williams has expanded its creative team with two senior copywriters.

Annie Bettis will write direct-to-consumer comms for clients such as Citi, The Australian, Cancer Council, Westpac and Mastercard. She’ll work alongside Ross Cockrill who moved to Sydney in 2020 after 15 years in London, working for a range of different agencies.

Archibald Williams ECD Matt Gilmour says the new copywriters are a great fit for the agency.

“At AW we’re big on bringing together brand and customer comms to help our clients' businesses work harder. Bringing on Annie and Ross, who straddle both disciplines beautifully, is exciting for us and their contribution to the agency culture and clients is already being felt.”

Cockrill has worked on clients including Nike, Mercedes-Benz, Kellogg’s, McDonald’s, Samsung, Etihad, Unilever and Google. Bettis has worked across social media content creation and copywriting for more than 10 years at Sydney agencies including Wunderman Thompson, Havas and Society (IPG Mediabrands).

Cockrill says he is excited about the new role.

“It’s a close-knit team full of extremely talented people, all of whom are an absolute pleasure to work with. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can all achieve together over the next few years.”

Bettis says she is looking forward to developing the agency’s offering.

“I’ve really enjoyed jumping straight in and being able to drive the tone for our direct-to-consumer comms, as well as having the opportunity to work with Matt straight off the blocks on some great, proactive pitches.”
