Twitter has reportedly cut prices for advertising as it tries to rebuild its business.

The Wall Street Journal, quoting emails sent this week to advertisers, says brands have been warned they will lose their verified status if they don’t reach spending thresholds.

The social media platform has lost major advertisers since billionaire Elon musk bought Twitter late last year for $US44 billion.

The re-branded platform, X, this week offered discounts of up to 50% on video ads that run alongside a list of trending topics.

“The goal of these discounts is to help our advertisers gain reach during crucial moments on Twitter such as the Women’s World Cup,” The Wall Street Journal quotes an email.
