Gaming platform Twitch is establishing its first in-house sales team in Sydney, as part of a push to ramp up its Australian operations.

The platform’s head of international sales Steve Ford will lead the new team as vice president of APAC sales.

Ford will be based in Singapore while overseeing the hiring of the advertising department in Sydney, as well as sales activities throughout the region.

The move is part of a greater Asia-Pacific-focused department for the business based in Singapore.

“Australia and Singapore are incredibly exciting markets for us,” Ford says.

“We have seen our audience of creators and viewers in those regions grow and with that, a tremendous appetite from our advertising partners to build deeper partnerships and better understand how to engage with our community.”

In his new role, Ford is tasked with building both the Singapore and Sydney-based teams and expanding the company’s footprint with a diverse array of brand partners in the Asia Pacific region.

Twitch is a leading gaming platform with an average of 15 million daily visitors worldwide.
