Tourism Tasmania has released a campaign inviting Tasmanians to explore their state and support local tourism and hospitality experiences while traditional interstate and international markets are not available.

The Make Yourself At Home campaign encourages Tasmanians to embrace the state's offerings, particularly following a tough few months for many Tasmanian businesses.

It includes a dedicated website for Tasmanians to book their next intrastate trip, a spot that showcases all the state has to offer and other promotional marketing assets available for tourism and hospitality businesses to use.

The campaign has been developed in partnership with the four regional tourism organisations, the Department of State Growth, the Tasmanian Hospitality Association and the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania.

A recent survey commissioned by Tourism Tasmania found that 68% of Tasmanians are planning to take a holiday in Tasmania in the next 12 months with a majority preferring to holiday at home than take an interstate or international trip.

In 2018 and 2019, prior to COVID-19, tourism directly and indirectly supported around 43,200 local jobs.
