Lucy Ronald, Fabulate’s head of strategy and talent, on the trends and sounds on TikTok over the past month.
In June, TikTok went off with the “you better be nice to him” trend dominating the feeds, creators were also turning their phone into a dramatic prop, lipsyncing and handshake duos.
Here’s a wrap of the trends:
1. You Better Be Nice to Him
What it is: The girlfriend sets the scene: “My boyfriend wants to show you his very specific niche hobby… and you BETTER be nice to him.” Cut to him earnestly explaining his Funko Pop rankings, Pokémon card stats, or obscure historical battle knowledge - while she stands in the background like a proud mum at a school play, quietly making sure no one’s mean in the comments.
Why we love it: It's adorable, hilarious, and unhinged in the best way. The boyfriend is usually so excited. The girlfriend is basically security and PR in one. And the audience? Instantly invested in the hobby they didn’t know they needed to care about.

2. Fame is a Gun
Creators are using Addison Rae’s “Fame is a Gun” to turn their phone into a dramatic prop. They hold it like a gun and rotate the camera around themselves, giving off “main character in an A24 film” energy.

3. Lipsync Day in the Life
The humble day-in-the-life vlog has had a glow-up. This trend combines lip-syncing, smooth transitions, timestamp overlays and a perfectly curated soundtrack to make even a trip to Woolies look cinematic.

4. Handshake POV
Two people shake hands to PinkPantheress’ “Illegal”, then switch camera perspectives mid-lyrics with a lip-sync. There’s always a text overlay that gives away the twist - whether it’s how they met, what they’re bonding over, or the chaotic reason they’re friends.

5. Man Child - Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina’s “Man Child” is the soundtrack to creators exposing themselves (or their friends) for their silliest habits and mildly concerning routines. Think: “relies on ChatGPT to make basic life decisions” levels of chaos.
@hannahchody using your brain is fun !!! try it !!!

6. If You Ever Think About Me
Starts with the line “If you ever think about me…” and then cuts to all the things people instantly associate with you - like your catchphrases, weird habits, or brand of coffee order chaos.
