The Works has won the direct business account for Optus following a competitive pitch.

Under the win, The Works will provide direct to customer communications across the Optus consumer and small business customer base.

The pitch had been short-listed to six agencies with Host, OgilvyOne, Naked, The Works, Archibald Williams and M&C Saatchi's Lida unit.

M&C Saatchi is the telco's lead creative agency, and had been handling direct communications.

Otpus head of brand and communications Sue Bailey said: “We are excited to be working alongside a partner with strong strategic thinking and a creative approach that will help Optus drive customer engagement, advocacy and business results.”

It follows recent wins from The Works including domain.com.au, Rexona, Sunbeam and Keno.

The Works creative partner Kevin Macmillan said: “Optus is ambitious and smart. We will be exploring every opportunity to create different innovative ways of communicating, because staying relevant to customers and getting the content mix and timing right is crucial.

“We’ve invested in some strategic initiatives recently which have provided us with some really useful tools – and we plan to put them to use for Optus.”
