A podcast exploring the realities of parenthood in Australia’s media industry launches today, backed by Uber Advertising,
It Takes a Village is a 10-part series from Lauren Thornborough and Lou Wilson, co-founders of The Village.
The show features conversations with parents balancing senior roles in media and marketing with raising children.
Guests include Aimee Buchanan, Willie Pang, Georgie Nichols, Pat Crowley and Pia Coyle, who reflect on their careers while raising families.
“We started It Takes a Village because there’s a vital conversation missing in our industry,” Thornborough said.
“We talk about KPIs and campaigns, but not daycare drop-offs or taking Teams calls with a sick child on your lap.”
Wilson said the podcast goes beyond burnout and babies.
“This podcast isn’t just about babies or burnout. It’s about ambition, identity, and redefining what it means to thrive when life doesn’t fit neatly into office hours.
“We want listeners to feel seen, supported, and part of a community that truly gets it.”
The Village launched in 2024 and has built a community of more than 900 members across the Australian media industry. The podcast is part of a 2026 expansion, including in-person events such as social mixers and school holiday outings.
“We’re focused on creating more opportunities for connection,” Thornborough said.
“Whether that’s meaningful industry dialogue or practical support during the school holidays, our goal is to make working parents lives just that little bit easier.”
It Takes a Village is available on major podcast platforms from March 4.
