The New Daily news website, nine years since it was established, reported record audience and revenue growing to more than $3.2 million in the year to June, up 64% on the previous year.

The Australia-owned publication, delivered by email, now has 525,586 engaged subscribers and an average of 14 million stories read on the site each month.

The free site peaked at number 15 in the Nielsen ranking of Australian news websites, recording an average of 2 million unique audience per month.

The New Daily is published by Motion Publishing and owned by Industry Super Holdings.

Motion Publishing’s managing director, Paul Hamra: “We compete with the biggest digital news brands in the country, off a very small cost base, providing an alternative perspective to the major players, which was helped last year by Australian’s thirst for free up-do-date information during COVID” he said.

“On this growth trajectory our future looks very bright."
