Sports and apparel retailer rebel has appointed The Monkeys, part of Accenture Interactive, as lead creative agency.

The agency will work across brand, communications and creative, with work for the national retailer, owned by Super Retail Group, to roll out immediately.

“We are working with a true partner to rebel, one that is delivering powerful ideas that can be fully integrated into our business," rebel general manager of customer and marketing Jenny Gulliver says.

"We are delighted to have found that in The Monkeys.”

The Monkeys CEO Paul McMillan says the agency is delighted to be working the national retailer.

“There is no doubt that sport is calling us now more than ever, not only for our physical health, but also our mental wellbeing," McMillan says.

"We are delighted to be working with the team at rebel, a place where I bought my first soccer boots back in 1985.”

The appointment news follows the launch of an integrated media campaign from rebel to celebrate the return of the AFL post lockdown.

The Sport is Calling campaign was created by The Monkeys with QMS broadcasting a live and minute-by-minute countdown across their digital billboards in the lead up to the opening bounce.
