Chris Scott has joined independent creative agency, The General Store, as executive creative director.

Scott started out at The Leith Agency in the UK, before moving to Australia in 2010, where he worked across the Y&R Group agencies.

Most recently, he returned to Europe and The Netherlands, working with Iris Amsterdam, The Brave New Now, Ogilvy Berlin and WE ARE Pi.

His work has been recognised internationally, including with a Cannes Gold Lion and a D&AD Yellow Pencil.

“I feel most at home in tight-knit indie agencies and couldn’t resist the opportunity to head up such a multi-disciplinary team of creative talent at The G Store," Scott says.

"The business is already doing incredible work across store design, advertising, digital and design. It’s a melting pot of talented, nice people and I can’t wait to continue the creative journey the team has been on.”

The General Store partner and CEO Matt Newell says that Scott joins The General Store after an extended freelance contract.

“Chris has had a huge impact on our business in the time that he’s been with us so I’m excited to formalise the appointment. He’s got a great mind, he’s fast to understand client’s challenges and he is energising for the entire team," Newell says.

"I’m looking forward to unleashing him across the entire business.”

With Scott on board, Newell says the agency is well-positioned to continue the business’ momentum.

“We’ve had a couple of years of strong growth, so it’s a good time to bring more creative leadership into the business," Newell says.

"We’ve got a good opportunity to leverage our strong foundations to deliver bigger, game changing thinking to our clients. And Chris is the perfect person for the job.”
