The Furnace Sydney has been appointed to handle the ad account for Carnival Cruise Lines, which is set to up its presence in Australia.

The appointment comes in light of Carnival Cruise Lines announcing it will bring one of its ships to Australia permanently, the first time the company has based a ship outside of the United States year-round.

The Furnace will collaborate with Arnold Worldwide on the account. Both companies are part of the Havas network and Carnival Cruise Lines is one of Arnold's key global clients.

The Sydney agency will launch a fully integrated campaign in January 2012 and the Carnival Cruise Ship, Carnival Spirit, will sail into Sydney Harbour in October of the same year.

Director of Carnival Cruise Lines in Austria Jennifer Vanderkreeke said: “The Furnace has already shown a great understanding of who we are, they've been instrumental in giving Carnival its 'Aussie voice' and they have some really engaging and unexpected ideas in the pipeline.”

Managing director of The Furnace Sydney Tony Singleton added: “It's also a rare opportunity to launch a totally new brand into Australia and it's great news that Arnold Worldwide have placed their trust in The Furnace to bring one of their marquee accounts to life in Australia.”

This year The Furnace has won accounts including Warner Bros, Atkins Nutritionals and Huawei Devices Australia.
