The fight against climate change including using super seaweed

Clean energy experts Alex McIntosh and Nick Zeltzer host A Positive Climate, an uplifting podcast focused on ways to tackle climate change.

After partnering with NOVA Entertainment Podcast Network (NEPN) to launch a successful first season with features on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, season two launched this week, bringing on board a new sponsor, Powershop, Australia’s greener energy retailer.

Alex and Nick interview some of Australia’s most innovative companies and inspiring individuals to help us all make a difference.

Season two showcases some of the key topics in the fight against climate change including super seaweed that can reduce the emissions from agriculture such as cows, the renewable energy transition, sustainable packaging and much much more.

Alex works at the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and focuses her work on a lot of the new technologies that are transforming our energy sector such as hydrogen and storage.

Nick works at the largest clean technology investor in Australia, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), after a career that has included stints at ARENA, Macquarie and working in the energy sector in Seattle, Washington.

The first episode included an interview with Vow co-founders Tim Noakesmith and George Peppou. Vow, a Sydney based start-up, creates meat grown from cells known as “cultured meat” that could pave the way for emission free steaks that are better for both the planet and the animals themselves.

Zeltzer: “We are thrilled to be launching Season two with Powershop, in what is a pivotal year for action on climate change. With the recent release of the IPCC report and the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow we want to play our part by sharing the stories from the Australian innovators taking action. With our podcast we’re hoping to let our guests educate and inspire listeners while helping consumers understand what they could do to make a difference."

McIntosh: “It’s really easy to get bogged down by the dire consequences of climate change and have this lead to a feeling of helplessness. But we think the best way to deal with this is to focus on the solutions and it is really amazing the level of homegrown innovation happening right now in Australia! We’re in a privileged position to get to see this progress and we just want to get the word out."

Catherine Anderson, chief customer officer of Powershop Australia: “As Australia’s greener power company, we’re huge fans of A Positive Climate podcast. At Powershop, we’re all about helping Australian households and businesses understand they have much more power than they think when it comes to having a positive impact on the planet. Nick & Alex are the perfect hosts to help us all muddle our way through the new technology and options out there for us. We’re proud to being powering season two of A Positive Climate and proud to be helping to drive      Australia’s transition to a greener energy future.

Kane Reiken, digital commercial director at NOVA Entertainment: “We are proud to again partner with Alex and Nick to launch Season two of A Positive Climate alongside Powershop, as they continue to lead the national conversation and help Australian’s better understand changes to our environment and the impact on their own lives.”

Season two of A Positive Climate launcheds on October 12 with episodes available every Tuesday on the Nova Podcasts Player or wherever you access your podcasts. For more information go to www.apositiveclimate.com.
