Chemist Warehouse is now selling newspapers during the coronavirus pandemic under a deal with News Corp Australia.

From this week, 100 Chemist Warehouse stores across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia will become a point of sale for the The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Courier Mail and The Advertiser.

Lia Heim, group marketing manager at Chemist Warehouse, says the ability to provide another essential service -- newspapers -- means that shoppers can minimise their travel within the local community.

The initiative will operate a trial until July and may be extended to 400 stores nationally.

Lou Barrett, managing director of national sales for News Corp Australia: "We’re always looking for new ways to assist our clients and their customers and given we’ve seen a spike in audience demand for our products, it makes perfect sense to have them available for sale in Chemist Warehouse stores."
