Psembi Kinstan.

AdNews asked Australian creatives to share their experiences at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. DDB Group Melbourne's chief creative officer Psembi Kinstan reports from the front line.

First impression, first day?

All work day one, preparing for a Glass and Innovation jury presentation and Q&A. A first for me, so a little nerve wracking, but it certainly makes Cannes more enjoyable when there’s some structure between all the roses.

Is there a creative theme this year or is everyone too busy in the cocktail tents?

Remains to be seen, let’s see what the next few days bring. I am optimistic the Australasian theme might be a much more successful year for Australia and NZ (amazing congrats to Motion Sickness and Finch for the GP and to Bear and Revolver too). Let’s claim Jake Barrows’ VML Prague GP win for Australia too (as a recent expat).

Cannes survival tip?

Swim. Hot? Swim. Run out of small talk? Swim. Hungover? Swim. Too much content to take in? Swim.

Inspired? By?

Goodby and Hahn!
