Nine's The Block has emerged victorious in a primetime battle overnight with Seven's The All New Monty: Ladies Night, with both shows cracking over one million viewers.

The reality home improvement show narrowly edged out The All New Monty, drawing in 1.032m metro viewers. Seven's one-off female version of the popular strip-tease series fell short of the win by 1000 viewers, with the 'performance' section of the show drawing in 1.031m.

The show, which was split into two parts, drew a further 889,000 metro viewers for the main part of the program.

However, The All New Monty won primetime nationally, with a total of 1.6m and 1.377m viewers for the performance and main program, respectively, compared to The Block's 1.378m national audience.

Elsewhere in prime time, Ten aired The Wallabies' Rugby World Cup clash with Wales. Starting in the afternoon and ending by 8pm, Australia's 29-25 loss to Wales drew 376,000 and 387,000 metro viewers for the live game and post-match coverage, respectively.

Nationally, the game drew 556,000, while the post-match garnered a further 572,000 viewers.

The Block will return tonight and go head-to-head with Ten's early success, The Masked Singer, which last week toppled The Block and drew over one million metro viewers for its first two episodes.

Seven will air The Real Dirty Dancing, a one-off special that sees eight Australian celebrities travel to the original Kellerman's Resort film location to recreate scenes from the film.
