Nation has appointed Harley Augustine brand and strategy director, following a seven-year stint at TBWA.
Augustine brings more than 20 years’ experience in brand and creative strategy to the independent agency, having worked across local and global roles at agencies including Elmwood, FutureBrand and TBWA.
His portfolio spans clients such as Booking.com, Nissan, EY, Medibank, Cadbury, Schweppes, and BHP.
Austine’s arrival coincides with Nation’s broader strategic expansion across Australia, with a growing presence in Victoria, ACT and South Australia.
“I’ve loved working at big global agencies throughout my career but now I’m excited to roll up my sleeves a little higher at Nation, get even closer to the work and help build something meaningful with an expert team of really talented and lovely people,” he said.
"I’ve always believed that the best work comes from strong relationships, shared ambition and trust.
“Independent agencies are on fire these days and NATION is a great example of handpicked, quality people doing quality work with quality clients.”
Augustine reunites with former TBWA colleague Joe Godsell, who joined Nation as managing director and co-owner in 2024.
Augustine will be based in Melbourne alongside designer Sarah Cain, and supported by the strategy team in Adelaide led by CEO Greg Knagge, and strategists Ben Nitschke and Phil Detoya.
Knagge said the agency’s footprint allows it to work seamlessly across markets.
“We are already working with clients across the country and have been for many years,” he said.
“It’s as easy for us to jump on a plane as much as a Teams call but it will always be about building collaborative, trusted relationships with our clients, that’s the key.”
