Game 2 of State of Origin totalled close to 3 million total viewers for Nine.

The match, which saw the NSW Blues easily defeat the Queensland Maroons 44 – 12 at Optus Stadium in Perth, had 1.797 million metro viewers tuning in, according to the OzTam ratings.

As a result, Nine claimed 46.1% of the nightly network share to Seven Network’s 19.3% and Network 10’s 15.7%.

Hamish Turner, director of 9Now and Programming for Nine, said: "Nine's live and free State of Origin coverage last night delivered the best ratings for Origin since Game 1, 2019.

“Over 3 million live viewers tuned in across linear TV and 9Now, with 2.6 million watching on channel 9 and 394,000 on 9Now.

“The series decider in Brisbane on July 13 poses as the ultimate finale to one of the most memorable series in Origin history, and the only place to see it live is on Channel 9 and 9Now."

For Seven, both Seven Network and Channel 7 are up week-on-week in total people. 7NEWS Sunday was the #1 news program, Weekend Sunrise was the #1 breakfast program and the AFL match between Collingwood v GWS Giants was #1 in its timeslot in total people, 25 to 54s and 16 to 39s.
