Start-up JACMedia is challenging traditional in-home media channels with a high-frequency digital noticeboard network targeting apartment residents.

JACMedia turns apartment lobbies, lifts and communal spaces into information hubs by converting underutilised paper notice boards into digital screens streaming building notices and advertising.

The network, founded by Julian Duggan alongside Bianca and Adrian Musico, was born out of the COVID pandemic to address the shift in people spending more time at home.

Roy Morgan data shows 46% of employed Australians now work from home at least some of the time.

The company has established a national network covering the eastern seaboard, Western Australia and Adelaide, with 109 screens across 56 locations.

Sites include Mason & Main's build-to-rent development in Sydney's Merrylands with 434 units, the 17-level Hing Loong residential tower in Darling Harbour and Melbourne's 48-storey Paragon building, home to 227 apartments.

JACMedia head of operations Bianca Musico said the digital noticeboard network was the only unskippable media placement at home.

"Our true superpower is in 'attentive reach'. With our network of screens inside the residential building environment, close viewing distance plus dwell time makes creative easier to read and more likely to stick,” Musico said.

The network generates more than one million impressions per week, with consumers coming into contact with JACMedia screens an average of 14 times per day, based on analysis of 24 hours of CCTV footage across nine network sites.

The same audience can see a message multiple times per day, creating consistent exposure within the home environment.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 16% of Australians now live in apartments, a figure expected to grow as home ownership becomes less affordable.

Musico said the network created a premium advertising platform connecting brands with highly engaged audiences where they live, work and unwind.

"By integrating smart, dynamic content, we're transforming screens into more than just advertising spaces; they become valuable touchpoints for residents and building management alike," Musico said.

JACMedia has worked with Bing Lee, Naked Wines, Ikea and Booktopia.
