Starcom has made Graeme Wood’s role as national head of futures and product redundant, after only a year.

Wood was promoted to the newly-created role last February, which was aimed at delivering on the Publicis-owned agency’s focus on providing people-based marketing solutions for clients, while also focusing on new behavioural and consumer patterns.

The role saw Wood spearhead The Future of Connected Living research project, Australia’s first smart home study, as part of a partnership with Visa and Seven West Media (Samsung also participated).

“After an inspiring and eventful three years, I’m posting the bittersweet news that Starcom has made my role redundant,” Wood posted to LinkedIn.

“I’ve worked with some great people, great brands, and great opportunities within Starcom and Publicis, but I’m now looking forward to some really exciting conversations about what happens next.”

Sources tell AdNews that the Starcom Futures thought leadership platform will continue, led by national head of strategy Sally Christian, who will be supported by the head of insights Nicole Conroy.

Christian took over as head of strategy from Wood after he was promoted into the Futures role.

Wood had joined the agency in February 2017 from m2m, where he was also head of strategy.
