By AdNews | 4 November 2021

The winners for each of the 42nd AWARD Awards Special categories were announced today as part of AWARD’s 40th celebration.

CHE Proximity Sydney took out the Individual Agency of the Year, as well as the Creative or Team of the Year, which went to Ashley Wilding & Daniel Davison.

The Emerging Creative or Team of the Year was awarded to DDB Sydney’s Sam Raftl and Tom Lawrence.

The Director of the Year award went to Revolver’s Steve Rogers, with the Emerging Director of the Year going to Courtney Brookes from Eight.

A prize for Emerging Indigenous Creative Talent was also awarded, with DDB’s Nic Molyneux taking home the award.

AWARD also announced Grand Award winners - with Special Group New Zealand & Special Group Australia taking out the APG Grand Award for ‘Good Morning World’ and Saatchi & Saatchi Australia winning the Grand Award for ‘Donation Dollar’.

The top three entries in each category were announced, view them here.

This is the first time AWARD has included entry-based special awards, which instead of being awarded on a points-based system were judged on the entrant's body of work by specialist juries.

AWARD will again offer these awards in this year's call for entries, with the 43rd AWARD Awards call for entries now open.

AWARD Committee member Jonathan Kneebone, who was instrumental in implementing the new categories, said: “Congratulations to all the Special Award winners. We couldn’t have had a better group of winners to kick-start this innovative new approach to recognising the individuals and individual agencies creating the best work in the region. We’re hoping as we start to emerge from having COVID-19 restrictions, next year these awards will become even more competitive, prized and supported”.
