Social media generally greeted the annoucnement of new judges for MasterChef with positive sentiment, according to marketing analytics group SEMrush.

Ten last week revealed the names of its newest judges for the reality cooking show: Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen.

Zonfrillo is a Scottish celebrity chef, television presenter, and philanthropist. Leong is a well known food critic and writer. Allen is a celebrity chef and winner of the fourth season of MasterChef.

SEMrush says the sentiment on twitter was mainly positive (47%).

Only 15% had something negative to say about the news whilst 38% of the total Tweets were neutral, which could be because the average MasterChef viewer has never heard of any of the three new judges.

In the total Tweets tied to #MasterChefAU, 2012 MasterChef winner and chef Andy Allen was the most mentioned of the new judges, followed by Jock Zonfrillo and then Melissa Leong.

Of the former judges, George Calombaris still garnered the most mentions, followed by Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan.

SEMrush also looked mentions in tweets with #MasterchefAU, specifically those with only the judges' first names, and found there were more references to “Jock” and “Melissa”, than “Andy”. Likewise “Matt” received more mentions than “George” and “Gary”.
