Snapchat has launched a public tool to help advertisers understand what’s happening on the platform.

Snapchat Trends highlights the most popular keywords shared among Snapchat users through public Stories and My Stories that have been viewed by a large group.

The tool also explains how popular phrases are being used and provides a searchable database to browse trending topics and see how they perform over time.

For example, last week the Top Trends in Australia were lockdown, The Kissing Booth 2 and census.

“For marketers and content creators, Snapchat Trends offers a brand new source of insight into the Snapchat Generation and an opportunity to learn more about the Snapchat community and the topics they care about,” Snapchat says in a blog post.

“Through testing of Snapchat Trends, we’ve seen a number of partners successfully derive and apply new insights — both on and off platform.”

The tool can be used by advertisers to conduct product market research, produce creative messaging, building user profiles and personas, researching key moments, and competitive research.
