Snap lifted revenue 10% to $US1.716 billion in the December quarter.

Over the full year revenue was up 11% to $5.931 billion, with profitability edging closer as the social media platform’s net loss narrowed to $460 million.

Total active advertisers increased 28%, driven in part by simplified onboarding, improved campaign workflows and increased performance.

The Snapchat community hit 946 million global monthly active users in the December quarter, an increase of 51 million or 6%.

“Our Q4 results began to reflect the impact of our strategic pivot toward profitable growth, translating into revenue diversification and meaningful margin expansion,” said CEO Evan Spiegel.

“This progress reflects our commitment to building a more financially efficient and profitable business while continuing to invest in the future of augmented reality and the consumer launch of Specs.”
