Duncan Campbell, ARN chief content officer, said this has been a fantastic set of results that has seen some incredible growth across the network.

"Kyle & Jackie O continue their record year of ratings, claiming the #1 position overall in Sydney for the fourth time this year with more listeners than any other show," he said.

"GOLD104.3 has had a big upswing in Melbourne, achieving its biggest-ever audience and becoming Australia’s most listened-to station, while Christian O’Connell is back at #1FM and well ahead of his competitors. We’ve also seen very strong growth for KIIS 97.3 which is now the #2FM station in Brisbane and has grown its audience by 59,000 weekly listeners.

"Congratulations to everyone involved for consistently delivering compelling content that connects with our audience wherever they are and however they choose to listen."

Ciaran Davis – ARN Media CEO & MD, said he is thrilled with ARN’s consistently strong results, not only across broadcast radio but also its on-demand and digital platforms.

"We are proudly the #1 metro network, dominating in the key markets of Sydney and Melbourne, and the #1 podcast publisher, and these achievements are a testament to the tremendous efforts of everyone at ARN," he said.

"Moving forward, we will continue to utilise the power of our much-loved brands and personalities to provide our clients with scalable, multi-platform content delivery and seamless commercial solutions."

Nine Radio’s head of content, Greg Byrnes, said to maintain number one positions in Sydney and Melbourne, while increasing total audience, is well deserved recognition for all of Nine's on-air teams.

"3AW has never had this many listeners before in a Survey 6 and we've recorded a 5% increase in 25-54 year-olds, across the network," he said.

"Talk content is relentless but so is the loyalty of our listeners and we thank them for their engagement each day.”

NOVA Entertainment CEO Peter Charlton said this survey is a testament to both the relentless growth of audio and just how competitive the Australian market is.

"We’re thrilled to see our Breakfast Shows connect with their listeners in new and meaningful ways and it’s great to see further share growth for Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie in Sydney," he said.

"Ongoing streaming growth and our DAB+ audience now approaching 1 million listeners shows NOVA Entertainment’s All of Audio approach continues the deliver. I also need make a special mention of Smallzy who, this survey, celebrates 10 years as Australia’s most listened to Evening Show – congratulations to Smallzy and the whole team."

Brendan Taylor, group program director for the Nova Network, said as we approach the end of 2023, it’s great to see the hard work of Nova's teams across the country really paying off.

"Nova 93.7 in Perth and Nova 106.9 in Brisbane have continued to go from strength-to-strength with their loyal listeners helping to take both stations and Breakfast Shows again to #1," he said.

"Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie continue their upward trajectory in Sydney, while Nova’s Smallzy has achieved his 10th year as the most listened to Evenings Show across the country which is a truly astonishing feat.”

Peter Clay, head of programming for the Smooth Network, said it was a solid survey for Smooth FM around the country, with #2 FM and #3 FM in Sydney and Melbourne respectively.

"Our DAB+ stations in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, having only launched late last year, have all achieved #1 DAB+ station in their respective markets which is an outstanding achievement for the brand," he said.

"It’s also fantastic to see Simon Diaz maintain his exceptional position as the #1 Afternoon Show in Sydney, something that he and the team should be extremely proud of.”
