Bill payment platform deferit has appointed ScienceFiction as its creative agency.

The platform allows people to pay any bill in four fortnightly instalments.

“Many Australians find it difficult to budget and align their income with their bills. In fact one third of Aussies pay a bill late every year,” says co-founder Jonty Hirsowitz.

“We help people to avoid late fees, take advantage of pay on time discounts and save time by paying bills all in one place.”

ScienceFiction planning director Eaon Pritchard applied best practice marketing science principles to identify the strategic opportunities for the brand.

“Launching a new or emerging brand is a challenge, not least in financial services where consumers need to be able to infer trust right away," Pritchard says.

"Because of this we thought it was important to establish very clear and distinct branding, really go after the key CEPs we could ‘own’ with the right balance of utility and a bit of the brand’s authentic irreverence.”

ScienceFiction creative partner Matt Arbon says the first work for deferit includes the new brand platform, Got a bill? deferit.

“We believe this will be a rich starting point to ensure we create a memorable brand in a category linked to something most Aussies try to avoid thinking about,” he says.

The first campaign is now live across digital and radio channels.
