Music streaming service Spotify has hired former Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) national sales chief Andrea Ingham to lead its local sales division.

In her new role Ingham will be responsible for driving ad sales revenue and strategy, arriving at what Spotify is calling “a time of record growth and innovation” at the company.

She has experience across radio, TV and agencies including holding a number of key sales management positions. Before her most recent role at SCA, Ingham previously worked at Nine Network Australia and Regional Mediaworks.

Spotify Australia and New Zealand managing director Kate Vale said: “Andrea is an outstanding talent and a respected leader with over 18 years’ experience across multiple media and markets.”

“She’s joined at an incredibly exciting time for Spotify ANZ as we continue to combine unprecedented growth with groundbreaking innovation across the service.”

Ingham resigned from SCA in July, just days after the radio network appointed Brian Gallagher as its new sales boss.

At the time, Ingham told AdNews: “I wish the whole team there well, and they have a great year ahead, but it was just time for me to move on,” she said.

The radio station has seen a raft of senior management changes over the last year, including the appointment of Grant Blackley as its new CEO.

Changes have been afoot at Spotify too, with the company promoting Brian Benedik to a newly created role of global head of advertising.

“In just over three years Spotify has carved out a commanding lead in music streaming across Australia and New Zealand,” said Ingham.

“There isn’t a more dynamic, more rapidly evolving space in digital today and I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.”
