SBS has partnered with the TCS Sydney Marathon, presented by ASICS, in a two-year exclusive free-to-air live television deal.
The TCS Sydney Marathon will be broadcast on Sunday, 30 August from 6am AEST, live and free-to-air on SBS and SBS On Demand.
The TCS Sydney Marathon draws elite athletes and everyday runners from 117 countries, with the 42-kilometre course taking runners from North Sydney, across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and through the heart of the city, finishing at the Sydney Opera House.
The event is supported by the NSW Government via Destination NSW, owned by Athletics Australia and managed by Pont3.
"We are delighted to welcome SBS back as our official broadcast partner for the next two years," said Wayne Larden, race director at TCS Sydney Marathon.
"SBS has an extraordinary track record of bringing world-class sporting events to the Australian public, and their commitment to reflecting the diversity of this nation mirrors everything the TCS Sydney Marathon stands for.
"This partnership with SBS alongside our extensive international broadcast distribution partnerships will showcase the TCS Sydney Marathon and our beautiful city of Sydney to the world in a really positive way."
Ken Shipp, director of sport at SBS, said the marathon was one of the great sporting events on the Australian calendar.
"As the only Abbott World Marathon Major in the Southern Hemisphere, it now sits alongside the most iconic distance races in the world," said Shipp.
"But what makes this event special is the mix of elite competition, personal achievement and community spirit that plays out across the streets of Sydney.
"SBS is the natural home for an event that reflects modern Australia, bringing together people from all backgrounds through a shared passion for sport. We look forward to sharing every moment with Australians in 2026 and 2027."
