Peter Andrews has resigned as head of network programming at SBS after more than a decade.

Andrews said the decision to step away wasn’t easy.

“After more than 12 years, I’ve made the very difficult decision to resign from my role as head of network programming at SBS Australia,” he said in a LinkedIn post.

“It’s impossible to summarise what this chapter has meant to me, but I’m leaving with enormous pride in what we achieved.”

Kathryn Fink, SBS director of television, told AdNews Andrews leaves a clear mark on the organisation.

“Peter has been with SBS for more than 12 years and made a significant contribution to our programming and content portfolio,” Fink said.

“He has played a key role in driving our premium content strategy on SBS On Demand, which has contributed to our digital acceleration.

“We thank Peter for his service and wish him well for what comes next.”

Across his time at the broadcaster, Andrews helped steer SBS’s programming identity across broadcast and digital.

He pointed to driving the evolution of SBS On Demand.

“Highlights I’ll always carry with me include growing SBS On Demand into one of Australia’s most distinctive and high-performing streaming platforms, exceptional year-on-year user growth, strong BVOD share, amazing engagement and one of the highest App Store ratings of any streaming service in the country,” he said.

Andrews also had praise for the SBS team.

“What I’m most proud of is the remarkable team I’ve had the privilege to lead. A group of talented, passionate, bold and collaborative people who care deeply about the power of storytelling and the audiences we serve.”

An SBS spokesperson told AdNews that interim arrangements for Andrews’ portfolio are being finalised.
