Publicis Groupe has expanded its chief growth officer Matt Cooney's role to take on the role of national growth and marketing officer for the Saatchi & Saatchi Australian brand.

“We are delighted to welcome Matt to the Saatchi & Saatchi family. I know he will help us grow both our profile and our business," Saatchi & Saatchi Australia CEO Anthony Gregorio says.

"He’s got a proven track record, is super bright and adds enormous value to the brand.”

Cooney, who has led his own Sydney-based consultancy as well as previously running new business at Host (now Host/Havas), is a seasoned operator having also served on management teams at BBH, Fallon and hhcl+p in the UK.

He has been instrumental in the growth of the Publicis Groupe’s ‘Power of One’ model over the past three years and will continue to work with Groupe CEO Michael Rebelo.

“Saatchi & Saatchi is the most famous brand in advertising and is showing its class across all of the most prestigious awards this year," Cooney says.

"The pipeline of work we have in place and the passion of our people and client partners is really exciting.

“It’s a great honour to be able to help such a fantastic brand fulfil its potential.

"Saatchi’s has been a huge part of growing business for the Publicis Groupe so it’s wonderful to now be able to help them grow their own.”

This is the latest senior appointment at the agency. Last week, the agency appointed Georgia Jones as managing partner of the Melbourne office.

Jones joined from Clemenger BBDO Melbourne where she was head of business management.

She replaces Mark Cochrane who was recently appointed as CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand.
