The National Rugby League (NRL) has reportedly warned Nine and Foxtel about working together to renegotiate broadcasting rights.

“If they collude, it will be at their peril,” Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V’landys told The Australian Financial Review

“We will take the rights elsewhere. If they think they can behave as monopolists, they will be in for a shock.”

The rights would be taken elsewhere if the broadcasters submitted a joint bid.

Nine and Foxtel paid $1.7 billion for the rights which expire in 2027.

The NRL is eyeing the $4.5 billion signed by the AFL with Seven network and Foxtel in September 2022.
