reo, backed by oOh!media, has appointed JJ Eastwood director of product, data and technology as it accelerates retail media growth.
Eastwood, a former regional lead for Rakuten Advertising and founding MD of Carousell Media Group, is tasked with building reo’s ad tech and data capabilities.
The remit includes targeting, measurement and omnichannel solutions to connect brands with retail audiences at scale.
“Retail media is entering its next phase of maturity, with the future lying in consolidation, smarter measurement and unlocking the untapped potential of true omnichannel advertising,” Eastwood said.
“reo is uniquely positioned to lead this shift, blending oOh!media’s national footprint with strong brand partnerships and data innovation.”
At Carousell, Eastwood built Asia’s largest multi-marketplace retail media network, reaching more than 40 million shoppers monthly.
He also led eBay’s advertising business in Australia.
“JJ is an outstanding individual and an internationally respected retail media commercial leader,” chief strategy and retail media officer at oOh!media, Andrew Every, said.
“His passion for the digital landscape and ecommerce combined with valuable expertise in product innovation, programmatic advertising and scaling new businesses will drive commercial results with our retailer partners.”
The appointment follows the hire of Renae Usher in June as director of sales and comes as reo extends its footprint through partnerships with Petbarn, Officeworks and Australia Post.
Morgan Stanley forecasts the retail media market in Australia will reach $2.8 billion by 2027, nearly triple its current size.
