The recently rebranded Junkee Media has appointed Red Bull’s head of brand marketing, Josh Rich, as its general manager of Junkee Studio.

Rich has spent the last two years as head of brand marketing for the energy drink manufacturer, helping them diversify the Red Bull brand away from just a beverage manufacturer into a media and lifestyle brand under the banner “Red Bull Media House”.

Overall Rich had been with Red Bull for 12 years, in roles including brand manager for Australia and national on-premise manager.

Rich will be responsible for Junkee's in-house creative team that produces bespoke content solutions for brands targeting a youth audience. He will head up the publisher’s key client relationships including Qantas, Rekorderlig Cider, Stoli Vodka and Intel.

Junkee Media CEO Neil Ackland said it's always admired Rich’s work with Red Bull, saying: “So when we began searching for a leader in brand and content marketing to drive the next stage of growth in our business, Josh was at the top of our wish list.

“Junkee Media’s core proposition is that we help brands to tell and share their stories, and Josh has helped Red Bull tell their story for the last decade, so we’re thrilled to bring that knowledge and expertise in-house to help grow ours and our clients’ businesses.”

Rich commences his role today and said he is looking forward to growing the creative strategies and content marketing brands can deploy to engage their target audience.

“Junkee Media are leaders in their field, and continue to innovate in this space within Australia,” he said.

The announcement comes as the business recently overhauled its structure and outlined a strong focus on branded content and video.
