Australian social media and online community management company Quiip has celebrated its tenth birthday.
The milestone comes following a successful year which has seen the company grow the business, adding new clients ReachOut, the ABC and The Butterfly Foundation to its roster.
CEO Alison Michalk launched Quiip after identifying the need for expert management of the risks, challenges and opportunities presented by online communities.
The business, founded at her kitchen table, now employs a team across the globe, allowing Quiip to provide 24/7 moderation services for clients.
Michalk still works from home and runs the company almost entirely remotely.
“I’m extraordinarily proud that we’ve been able to reach this milestone of ten years in the business," Michalk says.
"As social media matures we are focused on helping organisations manage their risk, extend their operating hours online and deepen their relationships with their customers via community building.”
With a planned company retreat on hold due to COVID-19, the business celebrated with a virtual glass of champagne and an end of financial year announcement indicating 20% year-on-year growth and an average staff net promoter score (NPS) score of nine out of ten.
“Over the past year we’ve been investing in improving our processes including our Client Listening Campaign to ensure we’re providing best-in-class service," Michalk says.
"This year’s NPS score exceeds our 8-plus target and is a testament to the fantastic work the team delivers to our customers around the clock."
Over the coming year, Quiip plans to grow the consulting and training arm of the business with recent hires Amber Robinson and Venessa Paech joining senior consultants Larah Kennedy and Lauren Piro in delivering custom community management training to organisations and the public, both in-person and via webinar.
Michalk will focus on extending the company’s BCorporation credentials to achieve further sustainable development goals for the business such as Net Zero carbon emissions and a Reconciliation Action Plan.
“Sustainability underpins all of our business growth and now that we have a strong senior team in place, I’m really focused on ensuring that we are living our BCorp promise to balance profits with purpose as well as exploring new business models such as employee equity,” Michalk says.
Quiip’s ten year anniversary also coincides with a new milestone of donating 1% of the year’s revenue to four registered charities voted by the team - The Indigenous Literacy Foundation; the Australian Marine Conservation Foundation, Sea Shephard and Amnesty International.
