PwC Outlook 2021 - Gaming, esports revenue to hit $4.9 billion by 2025

The interactive games and esports market is expected to have one of the highest rates of growth over the next four years, according to the latest PwC estimates.

The 20th edition of PwC Australia’s annual Australian Entertainment and Media Outlook revealed that total Australian advertising spend contracted by 8% to $15.4 billion in the year to December 2020.

In 2020 the gaming and esports market accounted for 5.9% of the total Australian entertainment and media market, reaching revenue of $3.41 billion.

This is forecast to grow to 6.8% of the market share by 2025 to reach $4.9 billion, up 7.5% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) based on the midpoint forecast scenario.

The esports revenue was $6 million last year in Australia and is forecast to grow to $16 million at a 21.2% CAGR through to 2025, based on midpoint forecast scenario.
