Publicis Groupe’s annual holiday message has made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the unpopularity of its artificial intelligence-powered platform Marcel.

"#AVeryMarcelChristmas" shows Marcel as a screen on wheels addressing the viewer from its desk with Publicis employees blatantly ignoring the AI tool. One even yells: "Marcel, you suck".

"If what I've read online is true, most of you don't like me," says Marcel in a French accent.

Marcel was officially revealed this year and was instantly shot down by commentators like Mark Ritson and TBWA global CEO Troy Ruhanen.

The video also seems to acknowledge hesitation from Publicis employees, as Marcel asks, "Why create me if no one wants me?"

"I'm actually a pretty nice AI once you get to know me. I connect you with experts at any Publicis shop, and I'll do your timesheets. What's not to love?"

"The whole Cannes thing!" someone shouts, referencing Publicis Cannes Lions boycott this year.

The video wraps up by wishing viewers: “A very Marcel holiday."
