Decision intelligence platform Prophet has appointed award-winning data scientist Rachel Scott head of marketing science.

In this newly created role, Scott will focus on building and leading Prophet’s customer-facing decision science capabilities and helping clients unlock actionable commercial outcomes and value from the platform.

Scott brings more than 20 years of experience across the Australian financial services sector, with a background spanning marketing, strategy, analytics, and credit risk.

She joins the company from Suncorp, where she spent eight years as the manager of marketing science, leading a team of mathematicians to optimise media investment and improve marketing ROI.

Prophet chief operating officer Hamish Mogan said that Scott’s blend of deep mathematical expertise and practical media measurement experience is "rare".

"Rachel is a recognised industry leader in marketing effectiveness and measurement, having built and led the marketing science function at Suncorp for the past eight years," he said.

"Rachel brings a rare combination of deep mathematical expertise and practical media measurement experience to Prophet - a blend of skills that is exceptionally difficult to find.

"Rachel has a proven track record of driving efficient media investment and improving marketing decision-making processes at-scale - her experience will have tremendous impact on our customers as they leverage the full power of the Prophet platform."

The appointment comes during a period of rapid scaling for Prophet, following the recent release of Prophet AI, a platform that creates "digital clones" of organisations to simulate and test business strategies.

Since its 2024 launch, the company has expanded its reach into sectors including retail, insurance, automotive, and cybersecurity.

Prophet CEO Jordan Taylor-Bartels emphasised the importance of Scott's role as a bridge between the platform's technology and client results.

"As we rapidly onboard new customers, our ability to help them leverage the mathematics in our platform is critical," he said.

"We needed an expert and steady pair of hands to lead this critical interface between our platform and our customers' commercial outcomes - I don't think there exists anyone more aligned to how we think and what we want for our customers than Rachel Scott.

"Rachel is renowned for her ability to translate complex data into commercial strategy that delivers measurable customer and business impact - we're delighted to have her as part of the Prophet team."

Scott, who has also served as a board member for the Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers, views her new position as vital to the company's core mission of improved decision-making.

"Prophet's core purpose is to help businesses make better decisions," she said.

"My role in building and leading the science that sits at the heart of this mission will be critical in helping to translate the mathematical power of the Prophet platform into actionable commercial outcomes for our customers.

"My experience driving efficient media investment and embedding measurement-led decision-making into complex organisations makes me uniquely qualified to shape how our customers unlock value from our platform. I'm excited to lead Prophet's customer-facing science capability, ensuring every customer can confidently translate model outputs into business decisions."

Scott’s arrival follows several other key hires at the firm, including vice president of sales and partnerships James Sawyer and talent head Bec Geyer.

Carl Clasio and Leo Roubos joined the national sales team late last year.

The company also recently added Google Cloud VP Phil Davis and Columbia University Professor Andrew Gelman to its Advisory Board.
