Branding design agency Principals has appointed Rachel Terkelsen to head creative for its Melbourne office.

Terkelsen joins Principals after spending nine years at PUSH Collective. She has been with PUSH since its inception following lengthy stints at both FutureBrand and Interbrand as well as five years running her own practice, Terkelsen Design.

Her work has been recognised by the REBRAND 100 Global Awards, AGDA Design Effectiveness and AMI Marketing Excellence awards.

Terkelsen replaces Pip Ireland who held the role for three and a half years. Principals Executive Creative Director Simon Wright said: “It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Pip who has done an outstanding job during the past three years. We wish her every success.

“At Principals, we strive to lead with inspiration and kindness in equal measure and Rachel fits the bill perfectly. She comes to us with bucket loads of experience and is a genuinely lovely person. We’re excited about the contribution she is going to make to help us grow, adapt and transition.”

With a portion of Principals’ work cause-based through the agency’s Good Ideas Foundation, Terkelsen’s personal interest in giving back through volunteer and pro bono work is part of what atracted her to the role.

She said: “The agency’s reputation and the quality of work drew me to the business as well as the culture which has been evident in my conversations with the team. I couldn’t be more pleased to be joining a company with the internal trait, ‘we’re on your side.’

“I’m looking forward to working with the strong design and creative team to really champion clever ideas that create cut-through.”
