The comedy duo racked up 940,095 monthly listeners and just over 2 million monthly downloads in September.

Casefile True Crime finished at second with 804,408 monthly listeners and a September-high of 2,172,928 monthly downloads. Shameless Media continued its rise from August, coming in at third place with 630,940 monthly listeners.

Mamamia Out Loud dropped to fourth with 579,101 monthly listeners while The Imperfects stayed at fifth with 551,977 monthly listeners.

ARN/iHeartMedia and LiSTNR (SCA) remained at first and second in the Top Publishers rankings, while Audioboom rose a place from August to finish at third. ARN/iHeartMedia totalled close to 4.2 million monthly listeners and over 19 million monthly downloads.

ARN’s head of digital audio, Corey Layton, said with 20 nominations in the upcoming Australian Podcast Awards, today's result further showcases ARN's incredible slates ability to engage listeners and brands alike.

"Congratulations to our team and partners for their continued success," he said.

SCA executive head of LiSTNR Podcasts, Grant Tothill, said it’s good to see that across the year podcast listening continues to grow.

"While the top five podcasts are consistent, it’s great to see our new podcasts debuting as well as they have, along with the continued strong performance of our titles in our key verticals - Sport, Parenting and Kids Entertainment, News, Entertainment and Culture, Factual & Drama and Radio podcast," he said.

“With Hamish & Andy continuing their run as Australia’s most listened to podcast along with the diverse audience all of our titles appeal to, there’s even more reason for advertisers to be talking to audiences in a trusted and personal environment they can’t achieve with other media."
