AdNews wraps up the biggest pitch news and wins from the past fortnight.

Toyota digital account pitch

R/GA, Publicis Groupe and at least one independent agency are reported in the running for Toyota's digital account, AdNews revealed.

Toyota, which uses a range of agencies for different sectors, is a top 20 advertiser by spend in Australia, according to Nielsen. Motor vehicles advertising comes in at $270.9 million a year.

Westpac puts St. George out to pitch

St. George, owned by big four bank Westpac, has its creative account out to pitch, AdNews revealed. Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi is the incumbent, appointed in 2015 and has worked with the brand since 2013.

Westpac is in the midst of culling staff as part of a three-year program to reduce costs including reducing marketing roles by 20%. Westpac is also in the middle of merging almost 100 of its main branches with subsidiaries such as St George to cut costs.

Federal government's $240m master media contract under review

The federal government has publicly announced an advanced notice that its master media agency account contract, worth $240 million, is coming up for review, AdNews revealed. 

The account, one of the largest and most prestigious in Australia, is currently held by Mediabrands' Universal McCann (UM). AdNews understands UM will be re-pitching for the account.

UM wins global account for Upfield

Plant-based company Upfield, home to brands such as Flora, ProActiv, Blue Band and Country Crock, operating in 95 countries worldwide including Australia has appointed Mediabrands' UM as its global media agency of record, following a competitive review.

oOh! wins Martin Place to add to Sydney Metro 

Outdoor media company oOh!media has won a competitive tender for Macquarie Group and Sydney Metro’s landmark Martin Place integrated station precinct, the latest addition to its Sydney CBD premium out-of-home network. 

The development, which is due to launch next year, includes the Sydney Metro Martin Place Station, two commercial buildings above the station - one of which will be home to Macquarie’s global headquarters - retail and dining spaces.

TRIWA appoints Manifest as its global creative agency of record

Ethical Swedish accessory brand TRIWA has appointed global brand comms agency Manifest as its creative agency of record, tasked with refreshing the brand identity, strategy and running its creative press office while simultaneously devising and executing campaigns.

 

Co.gency wins Caesarstone pitch

Independent and full service agency Co.gency has been appointed, following a competitive pitch, Caesarstone's sole agency to deliver strategy, creative, and media planning and buying, consolidating the account under one roof.

CX Lavender wins BlueScope pitch

Manufacturing company BlueScope Australia has awarded its digital services engagement to Sydney-based independent agency CX Lavender following a competitive tender. CXL will provide digital strategy, UX, design and technical development services across BlueScope brands, including BlueScope Steel, TRUECORE steel, COLORBOND steel and more.

one green bean wins Taco Bell account in Australia

Creative communications agency one green bean (ogb) will be working across Taco Bell Australia’s influencer, social media and PR projects to support product launches and brand building.

Atomic 212° gets healthier with My Muscle Chef

Independent media agency Atomic 212° has been appointed to the media strategy, planning and buying account for My Muscle Chef. Atomic 212° will add staff to its Sydney office to look after the My Muscle Chef account, which will be led by Sascha Bonomally, Ashleigh Carter and Will Ridley.

Adriatic Furniture appoints Faith

Adriatic Furniture, a family retail furniture business of nearly 50 years, has appointed The Faith Agency to provide a comprehensive marketing and advertising service for its retail store network and online business.

DBC2 wins Spartan Motor Company

Auto marketing agency DBC2 has been appointed marketing agency of record for performance car manufacturer Spartan Motor Company. DBC2’s immediate remit is to refresh Spartan’s brand identity and brand architecture ahead of officially launching Spartan’s limited-edition performance car, The Spartan, into the Australian market in September.

Independent media agency Sandbox Media has recently won Superluna Live, Ravenswood School for Girls, Solahart LAM Franchises (Newcastle and Pt Macquarie), Bloke in a Bar, Never Stop Group.
