AdNews Brisbane L!VE gathered industry leaders to unpack business opportunities ahead of the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games 2032. 

The half-day conference was staged at the State Library of Queensland on November 19. 

Khemistry managing director Kelly Brightwell and director Andrew Welstead opened proceedings with a deep dive into the current state of play for agencies based in Brisbane. 

Queensland Centre for Olympic & Paralympic Studies director Professor John Cairney followed with a presentation around the changing nature of fan experiences and sport, including innovation across digital activations, AI and augmented reality. 

The first-half of the conference concluded with a robust panel discussion on capturing attention in a competitive and fragmented sports marketing landscape.

The panel included Swimming Australia executive general manager commercial Jodie Hawkins, Paralympics Australia general manager for brand marketing and digital Brendon Harrington, Blis group head for QLD Scott Mathison and Audience 360 head of sales Moritz von Sanden.

Deloitte Access Economics delved into the $70 billion legacy opportunity for the Queensland economy after a networking break. This was followed by a session from Publicis Worldwide executive creative director Ryan Petie, who revealed the process for winning the ultimate pitch. Brisbane’s bid to host the 2032 Olympics. 

To close out the action-packed afternoon, a power panel delivered exclusive insights into new pitches and business opportunities leading to the Games.

The panel included newly appointed Brisbane 2032 CMO Brent Hill, Brisbane 2032 director of strategic engagement, brand and marketing communications Rebecca Masci, Olympic & Paralympic Games office deputy director-general Eugenie Buckley and Nine Olympic & Paralympic director of sales Andy Cann.
