PHD wins Gold Mental Health First Aid recognition

PHD has been successful in acquiring a Gold Standard Skilled Workplace Recognition from Mental Health First Aid Australia.

Each year one in five Australians will experience a mental illness. For the media and advertising industry, this is reported to be higher.

The Mentally Healthy survey:  "Despite this improvement, only 23% said mental health was a high priority in their workplace, and a tiny 6% felt their company is highly effective in addressing the mental health of its staff."

Many are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance. PHD has invested in Mental Health First aid to equip people with the skills to help someone who they’re concerned about.

To reach the Gold Standard Recognition, Mental Health First Aid Australia (MHFA) training was completed by a range of employees across the business.

Employees with various job levels, titles and teams took part in the training and we now have 32 employees that have undertaken this training, including our entire leadership team.  MHFA is incorporated into PHD’s workplace communications strategy, as well as PHDs induction process.

PHD has been driving the conversation of positive mental health for many years now, initially releasing personal mental health stories to the industry back in early 2019.

CEO Mark Jarrett: “The mental health and wellbeing of our people has been a priority for PHD for a number of years. In more recent times, this commitment has never been more important.

"We know there is still such a long way to go for all of us in this space, but we are proud of this recognition as it acknowledges the consistent work that we have put into supporting and raising awareness of mental health.

"Our people are the most important part of our organisation and their health and wellbeing are a critical part of the decisions we make as a business”.
