Peta Credlin among media figures in the Queen's Birthday honours list 2021

A string of journalists, media performers and broadcasters have been named in the Australia’s 2021 Queen’s birthday honours list

Sky News host Peta Credlin, who was chief of staff to Tony Abbott when he was prime minister, has been made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for service to parliament and politics.

She said: "It’s an award that I owe in large measure to the many wonderful political staff I’ve worked alongside during my 16 years in federal politics."

Distinguished journalist and author Simon Bouda, the editor of Nine’s A Current Affair, started the Ride for Justice seven years ago to support the Homicide Victims' Support Group. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Lindsay Murdoch, who spent 25 years as a foreign correspondent for Fairfax newspapers, was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).  

Greg Chamberlin, a former editor of Queensland's The Courier-Mail was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Ten’s Angela Bishop was named for services to entertainment journalism. Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Sports reporter Mark Beretta, co-host of Seven’s Sunrise co-host, was honoured for his service to charitable organisations. Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).

Mr Russell Stewart BOYD Cremorne NSW 2090 For distinguished service to the visual arts as a cinematographer of Australian feature films and television productions. 

Ms Peta-Louise Mary CREDLIN East Melbourne VIC 3002 For distinguished service to parliament and politics, to policy development, and to the executive function of government.

Mr Simon George BOUDA Waverley NSW 2024 For significant service to the television and print media, and to the community. 

Mr Gregory Thomas CHAMBERLIN Paddington QLD 4064 For significant service to the print media through editorial roles. 

Ms Ricci Edith SWART VIC For significant service to the media and film industries, and to the community. 

Ms Gina WILLIAMS Perth WA 6000 For significant service to the performing arts, to Indigenous music, and to media. 

The late Mr John Robert CALDON Formerly of Waverton NSW 2060 For service to business through media content distribution. 

Ms Angela Jane BISHOP NSW For service to entertainment journalism.

Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM):

Mr Lindsay Edmund MURDOCH Coconut Grove NT 0810 For service to journalism. 

Mr Ian Francis DOYLE Beulah Park SA 5067 For service to journalism, and to the community. 

Mr Patrick Hugh SMITH Sorrento VIC 3943 For service to the print media as a journalist. 

Mrs Pamela Marilyn VARDY Eltham VIC 3095 For service to horticulture, and to radio media. 

Mr Brian WISE Murrumbeena VIC 3163 For service to the broadcast media, particularly to radio. 

Mr Brendan Enda WALSH Lindfield NSW 2070 For service to radio. 

Mr Mark BERETTA NSW For service to the community through charitable organisations.
