One Nation leader Pauline Hanson said she will cut the SBS and put the ABC behind a paywall during her presentation at the National Press Club.

At the address Hanson said there was no longer a need for the broadcaster.

"Rest assured, there will be big changes if One Nation is given the chance. The SBS will be gone," said Hanson.

"There's no need for it anymore; the internet has overtaken the need for it."

Hanson also addressed the ABC, saying it would continue operating in regional, rural and remote areas, but would be placed behind a subscription paywall in all other areas.

"From its chairman down, the ABC has proven itself to be completely in denial about its profoundly transparent political bias and the activists in its ranks," said Hanson.

Hanson said she believed the broadcaster was biased against One Nation and criticised what she described as the ABC's role in public debate. She also said she would continue refusing interview requests from the national broadcaster.

More broadly, Hanson criticised the media, arguing public trust in journalists, government and major institutions had declined and that news organisations needed to do more to earn the confidence of Australians.

The ABC reported The Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance have said Senator Hanson's attacks on the guardian journalist, as well as the party's ban on Guardian and ABC journalists, were an assault on press freedom.
