OpenAI has appointed Andy Sinn and Mitch Pilar to its go-to-market ads solutions team, covering Australia and New Zealand.
Sinn moves from Meta after a decade as agency partner and global account lead for APAC, managing a portfolio worth more than $500 million.
Both report to Dave Dugan, OpenAI's head of global ads solutions.
"What’s exciting is that we’re still at the very beginning, and we’re moving fast," he wrote to LinkedIn.
Pilar joins from Google, where he spent almost 12 years, most recently as senior industry manager.
Pilar said he wanted to shape how ANZ businesses show up in ChatGPT in a way that is "useful, trusted and additive."
"I am most excited about the unique opportunity to help build an entirely new platform during a moment when people are changing the way they discover, create, plan and make decisions," he wrote to LinkedIn.
"I cant wait to start shaping how AUNZ businesses show up in these moments in a way that is useful, trusted and additive."
Dugan joined OpenAI in March from Meta, where he spent more than a decade, most recently as vice president of global clients and agencies. He reports to OpenAI chief operating officer Brad Lightcap.
OpenAI has been piloting ads within ChatGPT in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and has flagged plans to expand into further markets.
Pilar and Sinn will be selling into an ANZ pilot already running on a sliding CPM scale of $US20 to $US60, according to industry sources.
OpenAI is also expanding ads to ChatGPT's free tier and Go subscription in the US, as it moves formally towards ad-supported monetisation more broadly.
