oOh!media New Zealand has launched the country's first LED bus shelter screens in Christchurch.

The rollout is now underway, with four LED sites already live and installations taking place each week.

More than 70 digital bus shelters will be deployed across Christchurch by the end of 2026, with the full network of 110 completed by the end of June 2027.

The rollout follows the renewal of oOh!media's Christchurch City Council advertising contract earlier this year.

The screens use around 60% less energy than traditional LCD displays, require less maintenance and have a longer operational lifespan.

"Launching New Zealand's first LED bus shelter network is a significant milestone for the industry, setting a new benchmark for the quality and standard of street furniture in New Zealand,” said oOh!media head of New Zealand, Kelly Harvey.

“With 190 million monthly impressions and the ability to reach 87% of the Canterbury population each month, this premium digital network gives advertisers a powerful way new way to connect with audiences at scale.”
