Global luxury fashion and beauty powerhouse Chanel has moved its media account to Omnicom Media Group from WPP.

The media spend of the Paris-based company is reported to as much as $US500 million. Chanel's marketing budget is about $US1.77 billion.

In Australia, OMG's PHD is understood to be picking up the account.

Chanel: “After a competitive pitch over several months, we confirm that we have appointed Omnicom as our new global media agency from January 2022.

“We were particularly impressed by their strategic approach, understanding of the brand, and ability to organise around our requirements.

“We wish to thank WPP for their valued counsel over the past two decades supporting our growth.”

London-based MediaSense advised on the pitch.

This is the second recent big win for Omnicom. The group last month won the global account for both media and creative for Mercedes-Benz following a six month competitive pitch against Publicis Groupe.
