A new lifestyle magazine for North Sydney, called Local North, is launching with the backing of big brands such as American Express, Merivale and Rockpool Group.
Published by Local Publishing Co, it’s the sister publication for Local East which was launched last August. Both cover lifestyle topics such as food, travel, homes and design.
The first issue of Local North includes advertisers such as American Express, King Living, the Rockpool Group, Merivale, Flannery’s and the SCG Trust, as well as a range of small, independent businesses across retail and hospitality.
Local Publishing Co publisher Elizabeth Meryment says its launch is a testament of the willingness of advertisers to back independent media titles with a targeted reach and focus.
“From the moment we launched Local East last year, we have had advertisers tapping on our door encouraging us to look at the North Shore and Northern Beaches market,” Meryment says.
“We wanted to test the market in the East first and as each month passed, the interest from high-quality advertisers grew. So we felt the time was right to move North.”
Each publication will have 50,000 copies printed each month, and will be home delivered in key high-income areas including Mosman.
“We want Local North to have high visibility in the increasingly vibrant centres all over the North, from the big bustling suburbs like Mosman, to the cool, beach-vibe places like Avalon,” Meryment says.
This year, Local East has had advertisers including Christian Louboutin, Max Mara, Audi Centre Sydney and Tory Burch.
The first issue of Local North runs on 1 June.
