SBS has made two senior leadership appointments, naming Nikki Rooke director of media sales and confirming Uma Oldham as director of marketing and audiences.

Rooke joins from Nine, where she is currently director of sales — total television, leading the national sales team across metropolitan and regional television and BVOD.

She starts with SBS later this year, with Lee Fifoot continuing in the acting role until then. Fifoot has led the media sales team since September 2025, including through the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Oldham has been acting director of marketing and audiences since September 2025 and commences in the permanent role immediately.

She joined SBS in 2017 and has helped drive the growth of SBS On Demand and strengthen the SBS brand over nearly a decade.

Jane Palfreyman, SBS managing director, said the two appointments would help ensure SBS remained relevant, accessible and trusted.

"Nikki brings outstanding commercial experience and a clear understanding of how effective client partnerships and sustainable revenue can support public value," she said.

"Uma has already played an important role in growing SBS On Demand, strengthening the SBS brand and connecting more Australians with our content. She brings deep audience insight and a clear understanding of SBS's purpose."

Rooke said the opportunity to join the SBS executive team at a pivotal moment for the Australian media landscape was one she could not pass up.

"I am incredibly excited to lead the commercial team in helping businesses connect with contemporary Australia and create partnerships that deliver real impact for our clients whilst directly funding the vital, inclusive storytelling of the SBS Charter," she said.

Oldham said she was proud to help grow SBS's reach and deepen audience engagement.

"SBS plays an important role in reflecting modern Australia, and I'm proud to help grow its reach, deepen audience engagement and showcase the value of diverse perspectives," she said.
