Nine Entertainment is giving staff $1750 each as a special "recognition" bonus.

It is payable to all permanent employees who joined Nine before April 1 this year and who don’t already participate in other incentive plans.

"The strength of our business and our financial performance has come from great achievements across every part of our company, and you’ve all played your part in that," says CEO Mike Sneesby.

He told staff in an email that the bonus was a way of saying "thank you".

Sneesby called out the "incredible" effort, professionalism and sheer tenacity of staff that made the year so successful

Nine reported revenue of $1.3 billion, up 15%, and net profit after tax 18% higher at $213 million, for the half year to December.

The company is due to report full year results in August.
