NGEN Award 2026 entries open

Entries have opened for the 2026 NGEN Award, part of the MFA Awards, offering early-career media professionals the chance to respond to a live brief for charity Down the Track.

The award, now in its 16th year, is open to NGEN members with fewer than five years’ industry experience.

“The NGEN Award is where emerging media talent get the opportunity to step up, think big and demonstrate our industry purpose of We Are The Changers,” said Melanie Aslanidis, head of NGEN & MFA Foundations.

“It’s not often you get a chance to work on a real brief for a worthy cause, pitch directly to senior industry leaders and create an idea that could genuinely make a difference.”

Shortlisted teams will pitch their ideas live to a judging panel of MFA Board directors and senior leaders at NGEN Award Day on August 19.

This year’s brief is from Down the Track, which delivers early intervention programs for at-risk young people in the regional NSW.

A free strategy webinar will be held Wednesday June 24, at 10am AEST, to provide practical advice to entrants.

In 2022, Initiative’s Ben Breden and Olivia Coxon developed a national fundraising campaign for youth mental health charity batyr, supported by 19 media partners and $1.3 million in donated media.
